Calm Water front view by Fire-Redhead Calm Water front view by Fire-Redhead
Finally completed my best sculpture to date! I initially was going to make this a Lava haired woman but given her serene expression and pose I went with water instead. Very pleased with the turn out.

Ceramic with water soluble oil paints.

Thanks! Well that's hard to describe...essentially I start out by building my figure bald. Then I slip and score wavy chunks onto the scalp (crimp with hands) and gradually build around the figure. Then for the texture I just pinch a few little balls of clay flat and stick them in areas where the "water" would be frothy. Easier demonstrated than written

Must have taken a LONG LONG time to make it all by hand :)

The face took the longest. But the rest was fine. I'm a pretty fast builder

Maybe you should do a companion piece with a more fiery expression and pose and the lava hair to contrast and complement this piece. Nice concepts either way.

Thank you! I intend to so a fiery one with a more intense glare and pose. I'd love to do the whole Elemental thing as a series.
