Boomer the bird hunter

An oil painting I did for my mother's Christmas present. This is her cat Boomer stalking a sparrow hiding in a hole of our old shed.

Boomer is a kitten (now young cat) whom was born to a feral mother under my shed in the back yard early this summer. I peered out the back door one day and saw this mama cat nursing a single kitten...of course I immediately squealed upon seeing his Siamese coloring. Luckily, the kitten was young enough that he hadn't developed a fear of humans like his mother and wasn't fast on his feet yet. So, armed with a spoon and a can of soft cat food, I began the process of taming this adorable little waif. His eyes were gunky and he was pretty underweight despite being an only kitten, so he was very eager to eat my offerings. After awhile his eyes cleared up and he began to trust me for food and playtime. My own cat, however, is super jealous and intolerant of other cats so I knew I couldn't keep him in the long run. So when he was old enough and his mama began to wean/reject him, I gave him to my mother and father. Much to their delight he's become a very handsome, almost dog-like cat that follows them wherever they go and is very tolerant of handling (even riding on a four wheeler with them!) They love him so much I decided to paint him doing his favorite activity: Stalking!
